Two4Design Architecture PLLC, is a firm that has been in development since 1998, and was started in Brooklyn, New York as a joint effort between two Architects. The firm's goal through each project is exceptional design, commitment to the particularity of place and user, and for the sensitivity and consideration of the impact of a built structure on the natural environment.
Our array of experience in projects ranges from high end residential design, restoration of historic buildings and green roofs. Both partners have different sets of skills that complement each other to reach a particular aesthetic solution meeting our client’s needs. Two4Design respects and works with and is sensitive to the existing buildings architectural fabric. When working with historic buildings, Two4Design does our due diligence to research the history and understand the original materials of the structure to successfully restore or renovate the building; all along working in tandem with the governing landmarks preservation agencies.
The founding partners of Two4Design Architecture PLLC, Melissa R. Caruso and Harold A. Martinez, are both graduates of Pratt Institute's School of Architecture. Combined they have over 30 years of architectural experience in many fields within the architectural practice. Both partners have worked directly with Clients from project start to finish to successfully complete projects on schedule and within budget.

Joseph C. Torres | Preservationist
Joseph C. Torres
With a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Urban planning from the University of Buffalo and a Master of Science in Historic Preservation from the University of Pennsylvania, Joseph specializes in documentation and historic research, condition assessment, and facade investigation. Joseph has previously worked at the National Park Service: Independence National Historical Park, The University of Pennsylvania Architectural Conservation Laboratory, and Howard Zimmerman Architects.
Joseph has comprehensive experience working with historical cultural properties including conservation work of Ancestral Puebloan architecture throughout the Southwest United States, documentation and restorative work on National Registered masonry and wooden structures in Montana and Yellowstone National Park, and façade investigation on Prewar structures in New York City. Joseph was part of a preservation team that received the Vernacular Architecture Forum Paul E. Buchanan Award for HABS documentation and recording of the National Registered Western Clay Manufacturing Co. (2014).
Harold A. Martinez, A.I.A | NCARB
A registered architect in the State of New York and New Jersey, Harold specializing in forensic architecture, exterior facades and building envelope solutions. Harold has previously worked at Wiss Janney Elstner Architects, Superstructures, Li-Saltzman Architects and Howard Zimmerman Architects, all firms specializing in the science of building envelopes.
Harold has extensive experience working with historic buildings and working with the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission as well as the New York Landmarks Conservancy. As Project Architect , Harold was part of a preservation team that received preservation awards from the Victorian Society in America Metropolitan Chapter for the preservation of Tifereth Israel in Queens (2012) and the preservation of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Brooklyn (2012), as well as The New York Landmarks Conservancy Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award for Brown Memorial Baptist Church (2012).
Melissa R. Caruso, A.I.A | NCARB
A registered architect in the State of New York, Melissa has predominately worked on residential, commercial and institutional architectural design. In her 15 years of experience, Melissa has previously worked as a project manager in various firms such as the Pratt Center for Community Development, Dennis Wedlick Architects and Li-Saltzman Architects. Melissa has experience working with the New York City Building Department, the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, the New York City Planning Department, as well as various New York State agencies such as the Office of Victim Services.
As Project Architect, Melissa worked on various not-for profit projects that included the design of a six-story single residence occupancy building (53 units), several community day care centers as well as public space design. Also as Project Designer and Manager, Melissa completed award winning high end residential projects of various sizes with design detail historic in nature.
